Growing local photographers since 1951

We are celebrating our 75th year in 2026 and Bingley Camera Club continues to thrive. In the past decade the club has grown into one of the largest in Yorkshire with around 100 members We are proud to say our current Secretary is a third generation member. Initially established in April 1951 under the name ‘Bingley & District Photographic Society’, the meetings originally took place above the Co-op in Crossflatts and had a very practical slant, with the club even boasting its own dark-room. The society was re-established five years on in 1956 by then Chairman Bill Hirst, changing both the name and the format of the then thirty-nine strong group, as ‘Bingley Camera Club’,

Our members come from all around the Aire and Worth Valleys including: Bingley, Shipley, Saltaire, Baildon, Bradford, Keighley, Sutton, Oakworth, Haworth, Cullingworth, Wilsden to name but a few. Our membership ranges from the very experienced to the beginner; whatever your level of expertise, you'll find something of interest. You'll certainly find a very warm welcome.

We meet every Monday evening throughout the autumn, winter and into spring.  We have a varied syllabus, including great speakers on all sorts of subjects, with something for everyone (See syllabus page). Our address is: Bingley Methodist Church Herbert Street Bingley BD16 4JU. Meetings start at 7.00pm ready for presentation start 7.15pm sharp and will usually finish around 9.00pm (sometimes a bit later). There will be a tea/coffee break at each meeting.

We are committed to improving the level of photography of all our members. As a member of the Yorkshire Photographic Union, Bingley Camera Club enters the Annual Competition and in May 2027 we are hosting the Annual Assembly and exhibition here in Bingley.

We always welcome  new members so for those who haven't been to any meetings yet or perhaps haven't been for a few years, please come along and see how things are done or how we might have changed. We are friendly and welcoming, a group of keen amateur photographers trying to enhance their enjoyment of photography with a programme of presentations, competitions and practical evenings. It's about helping each other develop and learn.

Check out our social media by using the social media links at the top or bottom of the page. We have a public facebook and instagram page as well as private Whatsapp and Facebook groups for our paid-up members.

weekly meetings

Meetings are held, in person, every Monday from September to May. For those unable to attend in person, we stream live from the venue and also record, where permission given, to allow catch up at a later time. We have a varied program for the season catering for people of all abilities, from a first time camera user to an experienced hobbyist. We have a mixture of competitions, visiting speakers, practical night, Photoshop and Lightroom classes and club outings.

continued support

Bingley Camera Club operates effectively 7 days a week with various social media outlets, allowing your questions to be answered when required. There is a huge amount of knowledge within the club, which is readily shared. Members learn from one another.

generating friendships

Many friendships have grown within the club. This has meant many trips organised outside of the syllabus. Maybe you are new to the area, love taking photos and want to join people with a similar passion.
