History
Having been going for 73 years, Bingley Camera Club continues to thrive. We are proud to say our current Secretary is a third generation member.
Initially established in April 1951 under the name ‘Bingley & District Photographic Society’, the meetings originally took place above the Co-op in Crossflatts and had a very practical slant, even boasting its own dark-room.
The society was later re-established five years on in 1956 by then Chairman Bill Hirst, changing both the name and the format of the then thirty-nine strong group, as ‘Bingley Camera Club’ became an evening affair as it still remains.
Membership did dwindle a few years ago but we have now re-established the Club as one of the largest in Yorkshire and we are committed to improving the level of photography of all our members. This has meant Bingley Camera Club achieved their best ever result in the Yorkshire Photographic Union Annual Competition, where we finished runners up as Club of the Year. A fantastic achievement collectively.
frequently asked question

We're actively looking for new members and it doesn't matter what level of experience you have.
ur annual subscription is £44. For students under 21 in full time education the subscription is £10. This is great value for money, especially with the archive of historical meeting recordings.
No you do not. We recommend using the competitions as a way to develop your skills as a photographer. The feedback given can go a long way to help improve you photography.
